Company info - What to expect

Company Slam

What to expect: The Company Slam is a series of rapid-fire presentations by the company reps to the student body, with each company giving a brief (approx. 2-3 minute) introduction to their company. Each company will have one slide (prepared by KLU) and one company representative to present.

What to prepare: Your company slide will be prepared by KLU and will include your company name, logo, representative names, titles, and photos, and current job listings. This information will be obtained from the data you submit on your company partner page and during the registration process.

For the verbal presentation, we ask you to be sure to include your company name, who you are, your area of expertise, and what your ‘wow’ factor is. Due to the brevity of the presentation, sharing what sets you apart will have a big impact!

Language: This part of the event is planned to take place in English only.

"KLU Behind the Scenes" Networking Lunch

What to expect: Company representatives are invited to join a lunch before the event’s official start. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to network with our faculty, career and program managers, as well as other company reps; sharing your recruitment needs, market expertise and gaining valuable insight into KLU industry research and offers.

What to prepare: Nothing to prepare, this will be a casual and easy networking lunch with no agenda!

Company Meet & Greet

What to expect: Each company will have their own networking table (180cm x 75cm) to facilitate employer branding and networking opportunities. Engage with talented students and showcase your organisation’s unique culture and values, while identifying promising candidates for your job openings. Indulge in delightful treats from our food stands while you meet with our top talent. This is a unique opportunity to connect, inspire and hire the best for your workforce.

What to prepare: Company representatives should come equipped with passion for their employer and a wealth of knowledge about what it means to work for their company and of course, what it is they do! In addition, knowledge of either what specific roles their company is looking to fill, or information on the general types of opportunities available (this should include direct entry, student positions, internships, and/or thesis opportunities if applicable), the requirements for them, what the company is looking for, and be able to advise on the hiring process. Please be aware that KLU's Internship Program allows only for approx. 3 months long internships between mid May and end of August each year.

Regarding the physical setup, everything needed will be provided. Each company will have a branded sign with their name and logo, however you are free to bring any additional materials*. If you wish to use an electronic device such as a laptop or iPad, please note there will not be electricity provided so we recommend arriving with a fully charged device.

*We kindly ask you not to bring any roll-up signs or bulky floor materials to keep the walkways clear. Also, please note that we are aiming for minimal print materials for sustainability purposes.

Language: This part of the event is planned to take place in English only. Event participants are of course open to talk in any language they feel comfortable to communicate in.

1:1 Speed Pitches

What to expect: The 1:1 Speed Pitches are a unique feature of KLU Career Connect. In contrast to a typical interview, where both parties aim to win the other over, KLU's speed pitches provide an opportunity for KLU students/ alumni to present themselves to our company partners, and for our company partners to lean back. Interviews are time consuming. Our speed pitches are meant to give our company partners a first impression of those students who would love to work for the respective company. If any of the (4-6) pitching students are of interest, you may arrange a follow-up interview with them at any point in time after KLU Career Connect.

The speed pitches will be coordinated by KLU with students being pre-selected and scheduled. The pitches will take place in breakout rooms on KLU’s campus, with each company having their own room. Students will arrive for their scheduled slot and have 3 minutes to pitch themselves, allowing time for follow-up questions and discussion.

What to prepare: Since the pitches will be scheduled by KLU, there is no work to do ahead of time for the company representatives. Students will be applying for speed pitches with companies they are interested in working for, so you can be assured you will meet highly motivated and interested potential candidates!

Language: This part of the event is planned to take place in English only. Language skills are not a selection criterion for the pitch matching. If pitch partners decide during the pitch to opt for another language of their choice, they are free to do so.

Your Virtual Presentation Company Partner Page

What to expect: Your Handshake/KLU partner page is your opportunity to present your companyto KLU students BEFORE the event. KLU students can inform themselves about your company, the company’s representatives, and get a first impression of the work and culture of your organisation. You may publish jobs on your partner page, which will simultaneously appear on KLU's own job board on the platform.

Your page will be online and available to the students to inform themselves before the event, and for some time after the event to allow for follow-ups.

What to prepare: KLU utilizes Handshake as our primary career services platform, connecting employers like you with our highly motivated students and recent graduates. Handshake provides a user-friendly interface to post job opportunities, manage applications, and build your employer brand within our student community.
